Did you know we spend about a third of our lives sleeping? That's nearly 27 years based on an average 80-year lifespan. Given these figures, choosing the right mattress is one of the most important decisions for your daily health and energy.
In this comparison, we pit two of the most popular foam mattresses in Canada against each other: Polysleep's Origin 2.0 and the Endy Original. We evaluated firmness, motion isolation, water resistance, edge support, and build quality—under identical conditions, with 4 testers.
This analysis does not rely on manufacturer specifications gathered online. We ordered an Endy Original mattress and tested both mattresses side-by-side, in the same room, on the same Polysleep base, at the same temperature (18°C). Here is what we found.
Quick verdict: which mattress to choose based on your profile?
- Choose the Origin 2.0 if you need a firmer mattress (7/10), if you share a bed and your partner's movements bother you, if you have kids or pets (water-repellent cover included), or if you value optimal edge support.
- Choose the Endy if you prefer a softer mattress (5/10), if you prioritize a long trial period (365 nights), or if budget is the deciding factor for you (~$100 less initially).

Unboxing: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original
Let's start this comparison by unboxing each mattress. While this first step may seem trivial, it reveals how a brand approaches quality, waste reduction, and the customer experience.
Origin 2.0 Mattress
The box weighs between 15 kg (Twin) and 29 kg (King) — two-person handling is recommended. Polysleep ships all its mattresses in minimalist boxes made of recycled cardboard that are entirely compostable — a deliberate choice to reduce their carbon footprint. A QR code on the box links to detailed setup instructions.
The box opens from the top in a horizontal position, like a pizza box, with clear instructions printed on the packaging. No extra tools are included — a choice made to avoid single-use accessories, like scissors thrown away after one unboxing.
Once taken out of the two plastic bags (using scissors or a knife), the mattress regains its shape in seconds. Full expansion takes 24 hours, but the mattress is practically ready to use right out of the packaging. No chemical odor is detected upon opening.
Endy Original Mattress
The Endy mattress is heavier: 19.5 kg for a Full, up to 42 kg for a King. Two-person handling is required. The box is branded with the Endy logo.
Opening is simple: a pull-tab allows the box to be opened horizontally. The mattress is rolled and vacuum-sealed. The box includes a user guide and a disposable plastic cutter.
The mattress regains its shape in seconds; full expansion takes 24 hours. A slight chemical odor was noted upon opening, which dissipated in a few hours.
Construction: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original
Understanding a mattress's composition is essential for evaluating its durability and health impacts. Both models use three foam layers, but materials and certifications differ.
Origin 2.0 Mattress
The Origin 2.0 is 10 inches (25 cm) thick and CertiPUR-US certified (foams free of harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and ozone depleters). It contains no latex.
Breathable cover — zip-removable, machine washable, water-resistant.
Antimicrobial comfort layer (1 inch / 2.5 cm) — ISO 20743 certified. Integrated directly into the foam, not just a surface treatment. It prevents the growth of microbes and dust mites.
Transition layer (2 inches / 5 cm) — aerated foam that isolates motion and promotes airflow.
Support layer (7 inches / 18 cm) — high-density foam that evenly redistributes weight and reinforces the perimeter.

2
Comfy Antimicrobial Foam
The antimicrobial treatment is mixed into all of this foam layer following health strict norms. -
3
Supportive Transitional & Support Base
Soft comfort foam for a better transition to the base layer.
Endy Original Mattress
The Endy is also 10 inches (25 cm) thick and CertiPUR-US certified.
Knitted polyester cover — removable, washable, but not water-repellent.
Comfort layer — open-cell viscoelastic foam (temperature neutral, pressure point relief).
Transition layer — polyurethane (buffer between comfort and support).
Support layer — high-density polyurethane.
Endy's open-cell technology is a real advantage for thermal regulation in the summer. However, the Endy lacks antimicrobial certification and its cover is not water-repellent.

Firmness: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original
Firmness is one of the most personal factors when choosing a mattress. It depends on your weight, your sleeping position, and your preferences. Our 4 testers evaluated each mattress for 30 minutes, under the same conditions: 18°C, 28% humidity, on the same Polysleep base, one week after unboxing.
Origin 2.0 Mattress
Firmness
Medium-firm support suitable for most sleep profiles (back, stomach, side). Optimal spinal alignment without pressure point buildup. For individuals over 220 lbs (100 kg), Polysleep recommends the Zephyr 2.0 or the Aura mattress.
Endy Original Mattress
Firmness
Softer than the Origin 2.0 — a good choice for side sleepers wanting hip and shoulder relief. However, softer foam can show signs of wear more quickly. The Endy is also available in Plush and Firm versions.
Water Resistance Test: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original
Water resistance is an often-overlooked feature when buying a mattress — until the day you need it. A water-repellent cover significantly extends the mattress's life by preventing damage, stains, and mold.
Origin 2.0 Mattress
About 500 ml of water was poured onto the surface. The water was instantly repelled and ran off onto the floor. The surface wiped clean with no trace of absorption. For complete protection, Polysleep recommends adding its waterproof mattress protector.
Endy Original Mattress
Same test on the Endy. The mattress absorbed all the water immediately. A separate mattress protector is essential, representing an additional cost and potentially reducing breathability.
Motion Isolation Test: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original
For couples, motion isolation can be the deciding factor. Poor isolation means every movement your partner makes — tossing, turning, getting up — risks waking you.
Origin 2.0 Mattress
A full glass is placed upright on the mattress. A tester jumps on the bed. Result: the glass stayed perfectly upright. No movement detected. The Origin 2.0's transition and support layers absorb and isolate shocks exceptionally well.
Endy Original Mattress
Same test. The glass fell over after a few jumps. This result is consistent with Endy's softer, more responsive foam, which transfers more movement across the surface. The Endy remains reasonable on this criterion compared to the broader market, but does not rival the Origin 2.0.
Edge Support: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original
Edge support determines the actual usable surface of the mattress and how well it holds up over time. A sagging perimeter reduces the sleepable area and can accelerate wear.
Origin 2.0 Mattress
The Origin 2.0 does not have a dedicated reinforced perimeter per se — that feature is reserved for the Aura, Zephyr, and Polysleep mattresses. Its edge stability comes instead from its high-density foam support layer, made up of millions of cells that provide uniform reinforcement across the entire surface, including the edges. Result: the edges remain stable whether you sit on them, get in and out of bed, or sleep near the edge.
Endy Original Mattress
The Endy Original lacks an edge support structure. The edges compress under body weight, reducing the usable surface and potentially accelerating peripheral wear.
Our Review of the Endy Original Mattress
The Endy brand is one of the most well-known in the Canadian market. Its 365-night trial period is among the most generous in the industry, and the brand played a major role in popularizing the bed-in-a-box concept in Canada following its appearance on Dragons' Den in 2017. Its open-cell foam technology and washable cover are genuine assets.
That being said, several points are worth noting before making a decision:
- Firmness of 5/10 — among the softest on the market. For sleepers looking for support, this can translate to a lack of long-term support and a potentially shorter lifespan.
- Non-water-repellent cover — a separate mattress protector is recommended, adding an extra cost and potentially reducing breathability.
- Weak edge support — the edges sag easily, limiting the mattress's usable surface.
- Slow bounce — typical of classic memory foam. Suits certain profiles but can give a "sinking in" sensation.
- Ownership: Endy was acquired by Sleep Country Canada in 2018 for $89M; Sleep Country Canada is now owned by Fairfax Financial Holdings. Endy, Casper Canada, Silk & Snow, and Hush are part of the same group. A neutral fact, but useful to know for those who prefer supporting an independent brand.
- Trustpilot Rating: 2.1/5 (source: Trustpilot.com, April 2026). Reflects high expectations and a large customer base.
In comparison, the Origin 2.0 offers superior firmness (7/10), ISO 20743 certified antimicrobial foam, an included water-repellent cover, and fast bounce-back. It is manufactured in Quebec by an independent company and is available in stores to test out.
For a sleeper looking for a soft mattress with a long trial period, the Endy might be suitable. For someone who prioritizes support, durability, health certifications, and value for money, the Origin 2.0 has the upper hand.
What Customers Say About the Origin 2.0
"This is my 3rd Polysleep mattress — one in the RV, one in the guest room, and one in the master bedroom. Guaranteed comfort, I would buy a 4th without hesitation.
"I researched for a very long time before changing my mattress. The Origin 2.0 is a great compromise between medium-firm and firm. Delivered in 4 days, easy unboxing. I regret not switching sooner.
"Customer service was efficient — I asked to pause the delivery for my move and I received my mattress 2 days later. Very comfortable from the first few days.
Endy Original Mattress — 2.1/5 on Trustpilot
Source: Trustpilot.com, April 2026. This score reflects high expectations and a large customer base. The Origin 2.0 displays a 4.8/5 rating across 271 verified reviews — a notable performance for an independent Quebec brand that focuses on quality rather than volume.
Trial Period, Warranty, and Price: Final Comparison
Origin 2.0: 100 nights | Free returns — full refund, zero fees | 10-year warranty | Free delivery in Canada
Endy Original: 365 nights | Free returns — full refund, zero fees | 10 to 15-year warranty | Free delivery in Canada
The Endy has a clear advantage on the trial period, with 365 nights against the Origin 2.0's 100. Both brands, however, offer fully free returns with zero fees.
Regarding price: at $895 for a Queen, the Endy is about $100 cheaper than the Origin 2.0 at regular price (~$995). With the Polysleep email discount (usually 20%), the Origin 2.0 drops to around $796, clearly reversing the price advantage in favor of the Origin 2.0.
Final Verdict: Origin 2.0 or Endy Original?
Choose the Origin 2.0 if you:
- Sleep on your back or stomach and need firm support (7/10)
- Share a bed and are sensitive to your partner's movements
- Have kids or pets (water-repellent cover included standard)
- Value health certifications (ISO 20743 antimicrobial)
- Sleep near the edges or sit on the bed frequently
- Prefer supporting an independent Quebec brand
Choose the Endy if you:
- Prefer a mattress with a softer feel (5/10)
- Want maximum trial time (365 nights) with free returns
- Have a tighter budget, particularly for a King size
- Are a side sleeper who benefits from a plusher surface
Both mattresses are solid Canadian products. The Origin 2.0 wins on performance criteria. The Endy wins on purchase conditions. Your choice depends on what you value most in a mattress.
